Goods You Can Bring into Indonesia
By now most of us know the international restrictions on carry on goods, don’t bring bottle of liquid more than 100 ml, don’t bring any sharp objects including scissors, cutters and pocket knives, don’t wrap presents because they may be inspected, and needless to say you should never bring narcotics, firearms and explosives.
But in additional to the endless list of what you can’t carry on board, you should pack them in your carry on bag or in your checked in luggage, each country determines different allowance for certain goods such as alcoholic beverages, cigarettes, perfumes and cash. If your destination is Indonesia, here is short list that may help with your packing.
1. Alcoholic Beverages.
Only up to 1 litter of alcoholic beverages- beer, wine, liquor, tec – can enter Indonesia. Bring more and you will risk confiscation and/or a hefty fine. Although acceptable, should be consumed on our premises and in moderation.
Also duty free/spirit alcohol is Illegal in this area. We have recently been informed that any such alcohol will be confiscated and there will also be a fine for having such alcohol. So please respect this law and leave spirit alcohol behind.
2. Cigarettes and Cigars
You can bring maximum 200 cigarettes and 25 cigars. More than that, you will be taxed.
Because most perfumes contain ethyl alcohol, the rule is the same as bringing alcoholic beverages, which means your allowance is only up to 1 litter. And of course this mount is in combination of the alcoholic beverages that you are also carrying into the country.
Most government, including Indonesia, allow you to bring up to US$ 10,000 in cash.
